I/O & Overdrive Install Manual Rev2

August 12th, 2010

I completed the new Rev2 of the I/O & Overdrive Install manual. It’s only available as a PDF download. The online version will be ready in a couple days.
You may have noticed I updated all the schematics a few weeks ago to fix errors and bring to Rev2. They are also available for PDF download.
I’m still working on the Install manual specific to the custom x0xb0x PCB’s. It’s tricky concerning the correct order to do things and testing etc.. so it’s taking some time.

New Install manual, x0xi0 vs TB-303 comparison

June 29th, 2010

The Install manual took longer than I hoped, it was a lot of work, completely revamped with many improvements including:
- all errors corrected
- test procedure added
- link to hi-res versions of each page
- pdf download

Next up is deriving the I/O Install & Full kit w/Custom PCB versions of the manual. Also , the Users manual, with block diagrams, is close to being completed

Below is a comparison to the 303. Some people had asked for more basic demos, and I went even further. I adjusted them at several settings where they sound identical…
There is also a hi-res version of the video here:

I took down the old version and haven’t updated the pages so you’ll; get a 404…

new Install & User manuals coming soon

June 15th, 2010

lack of updates the past two weeks does not equal lack of progress ;)
I am very excited to have been able to deliver another eight x0xi0’s I’ve had in the queue for building, fixing, and/or calibrating. Here’s a shot of the latest one:

I have been able to concentrate on some of the documentation that has been lacking. The additional kits & improvements that have been completed recently have made it somewhat difficult to figure out exactly what’s going on. I have completed version 2 of the Full Kit Install Manual that will be going online this coming weekend. It will also be available as a PDF download, as will all the documentation shortly. This new Install manual integrates the Test Procedure that I had been working on, and includes many improvements, corrections, and additional information.
I’ve also made a lot of progress on the User Manual. It’s very detailed but very easy to read and is badly needed to help everyone figure out all the unique tricks of the x0xi0. I’m also doing some demo videos demonstrating use (that demo I did last year with the 1st run kit is pretty lame if you ask me!) the synth is capable of some amazing stuff, it’s just hard to decide where to start..

Custom enclosure & new support content

June 1st, 2010

I have added a new entry to the support documentation in regards to clicking sounds, including descriptions and samples of clicking due to VCA offset & trigger signals.
I have completed a build of a x0xi0 kit using the Custom PCB Kit and a prototype of the custom aluminum enclosure. The enclosure shown is as the final parts will be except the two end panels are not fully anodized,  and the rear silkscreen is non-existent as of yet. The enclosures will be expensive but they are perfect, small, and makes the x0xi0 extremely durable with the way everything mounts together. Taking feedback from x0xb0x users I kept all the same connectors on the rear I/O so DIN or Phone plug adapters are not necessary. A small run of enclosures will be happening at some point. If interested just get in contact, or wait for more details.

Site updates

May 23rd, 2010

There are a few new updates on the site. First, the Install manual for the remote Mixer PCB is up. Second, the instructions for painting the pointers on the 9mm potentiometers has been added, including a video demonstration.
Currently I am working on an install manual for the custom PCB Kit.
If you can’t see all the updates that have been added the past few weeks, including the additions to the documentation, install manuals, parts lists etc.. make sure to refresh you browser or delete temporary internet files.

[on a side note, I have found comments aren't working, I will try to get that up a running]

x0xb0x PCB Kits ready to ship

May 13th, 2010

The last part for the x0xb0x custom PCB kits came on Monday and I have started packing kits.
I have also updated the Parts Lists and Bill of Materials sections of the website to include the new kits.

mixer PCB’s are in, site updates

May 11th, 2010

This PCB’s came in. I’ve already tested them in (3) x0xi0’s and it works great. I will be shipping these ‘mixer parts’ with all Full kits from now on. If you already have a kit just get in contact and we’ll arrange to get one out to you.

I’ve done several more minor updates to the site.  One potentially helpful update is the support section. A few weeks ago I found the potential for issues with the potentiometers used for the the x0xi0 rear PCB. See the last note at the bottom of the support page

An RSS feed will be up for the blog in the next day or two so those of you with readers can get updates.

Blog is up

May 9th, 2010

..a lot of work integrating the blog into the website. Here it is ;)
I have post-dated a couple old news posts so that they would still be here.
I have also updated the Full kit install manual, fixed the Sitemap, and fixed numerous other minor things.
Also, the little x0xb0x mixer PCB’s came in last week but there was a mistake so the vendor rushed out some new ones that’ll arrive on Monday May 10th. Here’s what the part looks like..
